NEW HOLLAND MACHINE COMPANY

In 1895, Abram Zimmerman, a master machinist, opened his New Holland Machine Works in New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. As previously noted, Lancaster County was also home to another foundry -- Hubley. In 1903, the New Holland Machine Works was incorporated as the New Holland Machine Company New Holland Machine Co. produced mainly farm machinery, but they did make a Cow Doorstop, as a promotional piece. The doorstop was given away when you bought a piece of farm machinery. In the late 1930s, they made bulldog door stops, nutcrackers, and stove-top waffle irons. Today, the Copany is still making cast iron farm products.
