NOTE 3:
In 1632 Giovanni Battista Lulli was born into poverty in Florence. He became a talented violinist and dancer - later a noted composer. Discovered and brought to France, he became Jean Baptiste de Lully, the czar of music under Louis XIV. Composer of music for the Royal Ballet, scores to accompany the plays of Moliere and numerous operas for the King of France, he died in 1687.
